Orthodontics

Your smile can be flawless with the help of a variety of braces and our expert team.

Orthodontics focuses on correcting improper tooth positioning and jaw alignment, both during growth and development and later in life. The goal of orthodontic treatment extends beyond aesthetics, as properly aligned teeth are not only visually appealing but also essential for the health of the entire chewing system, jaw joints, muscles, as well as surrounding dental tissues.

The correct positioning of teeth within the jaw and the proper alignment between the upper and lower jaws ensure an even distribution of chewing forces, protecting the supporting tissues and teeth from overload, excessive wear, and decay, while also reducing or eliminating issues in the jaw joint.

Orthodontic appliances include:

  • fixed retainers
  • removable retainers
  • clear aligners, such as WeAlign.

Patients can remove removable orthodontic devices, while fixed appliances, commonly known as braces, remain attached to the teeth until the completion of orthodontic treatment. Fixed orthodontic appliances are placed directly in the mouth by the orthodontist, while removable devices are created in a dental lab.

Orthodontic treatment can be effective at any age, with adults particularly valuing it for achieving a beautiful smile. Orthodontic braces are now suitable for people of all ages. Orthodontic braces in older age can enhance self-confidence and appearance, but equally important is the improvement of gum and tooth health.

WeAlign clear aligners

WeAlign is a transparent orthodontic aligner that straightens teeth and corrects dental irregularities using a series of transparent, nearly invisible, and comfortable trays. These custom-made aligners are designed specifically for your teeth and can be removed. By changing to a new pair of orthodontic trays every two weeks, your teeth gradually move into their intended final position, week by week.

WeAlign's virtually invisible teeth straightening system can help you achieve the smile you've always desired. Thanks to advanced 3D computer technology and precise fingerprinting and imaging, our specialized Invisalign orthodontist creates a comprehensive treatment plan, guiding your teeth from their initial to final positions.

The duration of the treatment depends on the complexity of your case. The average treatment duration is between 6 and 12 months. During your first visit, the orthodontist will be able to provide a more specific answer.

WeAlign transparent orthodontic aligners should be worn at all times, except when eating or practicing oral hygiene.

Importance of oral hygiene

Throughout the entire duration of orthodontic treatment, special attention should be given to maintaining oral hygiene. Various components fixed to the teeth (such as molar bands, brackets, and wires) significantly limit access to all tooth surfaces, leading to increased plaque accumulation.

The oral hygiene routine for orthodontic device wearers differs somewhat from the usual practices. The areas around the orthodontic brackets and beneath the wires should be thoroughly cleaned with a toothbrush. This is achieved by patiently brushing in different directions, holding the toothbrush at various angles to allow the bristles to reach between the wires and orthodontic brackets, and cleaning all surfaces of the teeth.

Both regular toothbrushes and special toothbrushes designed for cleaning teeth under orthodontic devices can be used for brushing. They are designed to fit the dimensions and shape of the head, allowing easier access to the areas under the wires and brackets. Interdental toothbrushes can be very helpful in maintaining oral hygiene, as it is nearly impossible to thoroughly clean the interdental areas with a regular toothbrush when a fixed orthodontic device is in place.

The lingual positioning of the orthodontic brackets and the low placement of the wire make cleaning and even flossing much easier. The gold in the brackets has an antibacterial effect and helps reduce plaque. Additionally, scientific research has shown that the use of lingual gold braces results in an extremely low percentage of demineralized areas (white spots) on the teeth, a common issue with traditional braces when worn for extended periods.
